Hampton Inn Col Alto Lexington, VA
My visit to the Hampton Inn Col Alto in Lexington, VA was unique since it was the first Hampton that I've seen that's also a historic landmark. Located in the
1827 Col Alto Manor House, it has guest rooms both in the historic mansion and in the adjacent hotel building. We were treated to a hotel tour which included the largest
room, the McDowell Room, named for Virginia Governor James McDowell, the original owner. This room was complete with a fireplace. We also met the General Manager
George Moore, who presented TJ with a wooden standup model of the original mansion, which can be seen in the inset of the picture below.
When you're in Lexington, and want an extraordinary place to stay, this is the place. Take a stroll around the mansion grounds,
or just sit out on the porch overlooking the front lawn. Make this Hampton your destination for a stay in Lexington.
